Any admirer of Syrah must try this outstanding example from Tempus Alba. And the 2016 is one of its best years.

100% Syrah grapes, hand-picked at the end of March. After pressing and fermentation, this stunning wine was aged for 6 months in a mix of 70% French and 30% American new oak barrels, giving it great structure and a subtle hint of vanilla. 6 months rest in the bottle allowed this wine’s complexity to fully develop.

Suitable for vegans.

  • Type: Red

    Grape: Syrah

    Year: 2016

    ABV: 14%

    Region: Maipú, Mendoza

Food: Having a BBQ and want a wine to match your grilled asparagus, sausages and steaks? This Syrah is ideal as it loves smokey flavours. But its super versatile and also works very well with stronger greens like spinach and kale so it’s fantastic with a range of vegetarian food. The ever so slight vanilla edge to this Syrah makes it an ideal pair for teriyaki, miso or chili flavours.

Or just drink without food as this 2016 is absolutely gorgeous.

Tasting Notes: This is a grown-up juicy wine. Gorgeous earthy tones come through like leather and smoke, vanilla and tobacco. Liquorice, a little cinnamon and anise. Black fruit and a dark purple red colour dominate. Medium-big bodied, intact tannins and a great smooth long finish.
