This Torrontes is something a bit different. The grapes are from a single vineyard, Finca El Retiro in Cafayate which is 1,750 metres above sea level. The high altitude means extreme temperature swings between night and day, thickening the skin and increasing the phenolic material of the grapes. The primary fermentation took place in new French oak barrels for 25 days, and the wine was then aged for 6 months also in new French oak barrels. This is a unique Torrontes that should be savoured.
Laborum Single Vineyard Tannat
Region: Cafayate, Salta Province
Food: This is a wine to match up with beef, roasted lamb, smokey sausage, aged cheeses, and wild mushrooms
Tasting Notes: Intense ruby red colour with black and violet tones. Lots of aromas to pick out there's red and dark fruits, floral notes like jasmin plus lots of herbs and spices. But wait until you taste it! There are lovely layers of flavours making this a wine of great complexity, spicy and sweet, firm tannins balanced with refreshing acidity. Gorgeous.
