The Vavasour family have lived in the Awatere River Valley since 1887 but it wasn’t until 1986 that their decedents planted the first vines. The river is fed by water from the glaciers and this is some of the best land in the country for growing vines.
Winemaker Louis Vavasour is focused on producing high quality wines that reflect this beautiful area.
Awatere River Sauvignon Blanc
Grape: Sauvignon Blanc
Food: Great as an aperitif and also pairs well with all seafood.
Tasting Notes: Lovely aromas of lemon and tropical fruits. In the mouth those tropical fruits are there again but with a nice balanced acidity and mineral notes. A nice long finish.
